Building Emotional and Somatic Language: The First Step Toward Nervous System Balance
In this course you will learn how to identify emotional and somatic language to help you further understand your emotional and bodily experiences. Emotions are first felt in the body which can be a confusing encounter if you don't have language to describe what you're going through. It's difficult enough to be undergo feelings and emotions that you don't quite know how to articulate for yourself, but it can be even more frustrating when others don't understand where you're coming from.
Through guided reflections and practical tools you’ll learn how to identify authentic expressions of your emotional experiences, expand your emotional and somatic vocabulary, and recognize the patterns that emerge. By developing awareness of these patterns, you’ll begin to dismantle the cycles that maintain nervous system dysregulation.
Note: Exploring emotions and somatic sensations can sometimes bring up strong feelings or memories. Some might find it helpful to do this type of work with a therapist or trusted support person.
